Google recently announced a feature that allows you to ask people to do stuff. For example, you can remind a family member or housemate to pick up the laundry on the way home, even giving them a time and place of the task. The feature is rolling out over the coming weeks.
This feature will work with Google Assistant. You can allocate tasks to people living with you and the pop up will appear on their phone. Google Assistant is Google’s artificial intelligent assistant that lives on your phone and the Google Home devices.
All you need to do is say “Ok Google, remind Kyle to get milk after work” or even something referencing a specific location: “Ok Google, remind Kyle to get milk from Woolworths after work”.
This feature will only work with people in your family group, so don’t get excited about allocating random tasks to friends. You can set up a Family Group on Google’s Family Website. Anyone you add must accept your invitation as well, making it a little bit safer.
This feature is rolling out onto smartphones, smart displays and speakers with Google Assistant installed. The roll-out is starting in the US, UK, and Australia and only supports English currently.
